Thanksgiving day celebration

Culture: "Thanksgiving day" celebration.

Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in Canada and the United States. In both countries, this holiday is a time to visit family and enjoy a Thanksgiving Day feast.  This normally includes special foods.
In the United States, the fourth Thursday in November is called Thanksgiving Day.  On this day, Americans give thanks for the good things they have had in the past year.
In the United States, Thanksgiving marks the start of the Christmas season, and the day after the holiday is the biggest shopping day of the year.  This is called Black Friday.  When Thanksgiving ends, Christmas begins as Americans get ready for the holiday season in December.

Learn more about the History of Thanksgiving day:
Americans celebrate Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November. In 1621, after a very tough first year in their new land, the Pilgrim's first harvest of crops was successful and plentiful. They found that they had enough food to store for the winter season. To celebrate and show their gratitude they had a large meal. This element continues in modern times with the Thanksgiving dinner. Eating plays a large role in the celebration of Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving Day, families and friends usually gather for a large meal including turkey. The Thanksgiving holiday weekend is one of the busiest travel periods of the year. In the United States, Thanksgiving is a four or five-day weekend vacation in school and college calendars. Major American cities have parades, the most famous being New York's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. American football is also a major part of Thanksgiving celebrations in the United States. Professional games are traditionally played on Thanksgiving Day.

It's Easter

Easter is an important Christian festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. There are many different customs for celebrating Easter around the world, but the Friday before Easter Sunday (Good Friday) and the Monday after are given as a bank holiday in the UK.
Early celebrations included the painting of eggs, which represented Jesus' empty tomb. Now we give Easter eggs - often chocolate - to friends and family, and have Easter egg hunts for eggs hidden by the Easter bunny.
Easter is not a fixed holiday and the date varies between 22nd March and 25th April. Easter Sunday will next be celebrated on 5th April 2015.

St. Patrick´s Day.

Every year on March 17, the Irish and the Irish-at-heart across the globe observe St. Patrick’s Day. What began as a religious feast day for the patron saint of Ireland has become an international festival celebrating Irish culture with parades, dancing, special foods and a whole lot of green.
